FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the SAT required for international students?
Many US universities have adopted test-optional policies. Indiana is test-optional for international applicants — a strong SAT/ACT can strengthen your application but is not required. Your counsellor advises whether submitting a score helps.
Can I work in the US after graduating?
A general business degree gives you 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT). But several Kelley majors — such as Business Analytics — are STEM-designated, which extends OPT to 36 months. Your counsellor helps you choose a major that fits your US career plans. After OPT, an employer can sponsor an H-1B.
How does direct admission to Kelley work?
Strong applicants are admitted directly into the Kelley School as first-year students — you don't need to apply again later. Solid grades, a compelling essay and demonstrated interest in business make the difference. Your counsellor helps your application stand out.
Can I work on campus during my studies?
F-1 students may work up to 20 hours per week on campus during the academic year and full-time during breaks. Indiana offers thousands of campus jobs — great for building your resume alongside your studies.
Is Bloomington a good place to live?
Bloomington is a classic US college town — safe, affordable, and centred around Indiana University. It has free student buses, a large international community, and a lively arts and food scene. Living costs are far below San Francisco, New York or Boston.
