Student Route visa

Core requirements: CAS from a licensed sponsor, valid passport, English (IELTS/UKVI), TB test where required.
Financial proof: tuition for year 1 + living costs of £1,334/month (London) or £1,023/month (outside) for up to 9 months, held 28 consecutive days.
Health surcharge: IHS paid in advance; visa fee around £490.
Work: up to 20 hrs/week in term time, full-time in holidays.
After study: Graduate Route — 2 years (3 for PhD).

F-1 student visa

Core requirements: Form I-20 from an SEVP-approved school, valid passport, DS-160 confirmation, embassy interview.
Fees: SEVIS I-901 fee $350 + DS-160 application $185.
Financial proof: evidence of funds covering one full year of tuition and living costs.
Work: 20 hrs/week on-campus during term; full-time in breaks.
After study: OPT 12 months + 24-month STEM extension (36 months total).

After study: PGWP for up to 3 years — a recognised path to permanent residency.
